DIARY OF A NAIJA WIFE
[The butterfly} Part 7
“Yeah, right. It is always about your books; meanwhile, it is called a bedroom for a reason.” Julia retorted.
Jenny scowled at her younger sister.
“Look here, Jenny, I don’t care if you have a million tests to write, all I need now is some peace and quiet. You must help your sisters with the room cleaning, after which you can read. All three of you should go back to that room now, clean it, then proceed to the second room and do the same.”
“But the second room is not even our room. It’s not fair mum.” Now it was Julia complaining.
“Of course it is not your room. But your room is being cleaned mostly by Jane, who doesn’t use the room with you both. So, off you go. Listen to your elder sister, do as she says and do not disturb me again.” I screamed.
Jane thrust out her tongue at her younger sisters. Sometimes I wonder if they are triplets. She doesn’t act older a lot of times. I’ve always heard that second children are full of mischief, well, Jane is no different.
I smiled as all three of them left my room finally. It was a happy, yet funny sight. I am happy, I am at peace. I have four beautiful girls. Who would have thought? I, Moradeyo.
I looked back at my diary and more flashes came.

Edosa.
“Edosa wait, please let me explain.”
“Explain what Rade? You just gave me the biggest embarrassment of my life in there?”
“I know, and I am deeply sorry. At least, give me a chance to explain.”
“I cannot listen to you right now, Rade, hell, I cannot even look at you. Is this all you have been doing? Prostituting yourself to men? I thought you were different.”
“No, no, no, no, I am not a prostitute. I did some things I am not proud of, but all that is in the past now.” I cried as I held firmly to his leg.
“Yeah, in the past, until the past came calling. Look here, I need some time to think. Get up and stop embarrassing yourself. I am not in the right frame of mind to talk to you just yet. We need to leave this place.” He said as he pulled me up and dragged me out of the compound.
Things had been good between Edosa and I. We were both ready to take our relationship to the next level after one year of seeing each other. I had gotten over my lust for older men because of him and how he loved me. He remains the best man I ever had a romantic relationship with till today.
I never knew anyone was capable of loving me the way he did. He loved me so much that I was always afraid of losing him. I had never felt this way about any man before now.
Edosa was ready to do anything for me. He would close from his uncle’s shop, come to mine and help me pack and still make sure I got home safely before he left for his uncle’s house which was on the mainland. Sometimes, he would leave Lagos Island as late as 9 pm when the shop has been closed by 6 pm, all because of me.
Edosa would put his needs aside to give me whatever I wanted, despite being a hustler with loads of responsibilities himself, and not minding that I had a lucrative business as well.
“Edosa, you don’t have to give me money for my hair. You told me that one of your sisters needs to purchase her JAMB form, you should be saving up for that.”
“Shshshsh,” He would say, holding his finger to his lips, then kissing me on my forehead.
“You are my girl and I have to take good care of you. I am saving for the form and she will get it before the end of the month, but that does not mean I should neglect the love of my life.”
“You will not be neglecting me, my love. It is simply about prioritizing. I know if you were richer, you will do more. I have my own money, let me spend it.”
Then he would stand up, and tell me it was time for him to go.
Always, I would find the money I had refused, either in my handbag or inside my accounts book.
He was that wonderful. I often wondered if he was human or an angel.
One Saturday, he appeared in my shop around 2 pm. This was very unusual because the only day he did not go the market was Sunday.
