BOMBOY is an epistolary narrative that pictures the life of a troubled young man Leke, who lives in the suburbs of Cape Town. It shows the journey motif of Leke from childhood to adulthood. As he grows, he develops the habit of stalking people, stealing small objects and moving from doctor to doctor in search of companionship rather than cure. Through the letters sent to him by his father, he learns about a family curse. A curse which his father is unable to remove. The novel explores the lonely life of Leke and his lack of direction.
Yewande OMOTOSO uses simple English that can be read and understood by the readers. She extract some words from the Yoruba language into her narrative. Words like; Babalawo, Alugbinrin, Oduduwa etc. Though the beginning of the novel seems boring, the middle and the end is interesting and makes a good read.
The novel is not just for literature readers but for everyone. I therefore recommend the novel to all lovers of books and all literature student.
Enjoy reading 😘😆👍💖
